An early Victorian needlework sampler by Jane Gower, dated April 12, 1861, worked with two bands of alphabet above four lines of verse and a large manor house, flanked by gates, birds, dogs and plants, within a trailing border of plants, all finely worked in coloured silks and with appliqué brass beads, 42cm x 33.5cm, within a period rosewood frame.
