A Japanese Shibayama inlaid ivory tusk vase and cover with integral carved wood stand, Meiji period, the tusk finely inlaid in mother-of-pearl and other hardstones, one side with a flower basket on a stand, the other side with two sparrows flying above blossoming branches, inlaid mother-of-pearl signature plaque to side, the cover with seated monkey surmount, the underside with incised and stained signatures, total height 39cm (minor losses and faults, and cover not fitting due to natural shrinkage).
