A mid-19th century French Palais Royal mahogany cased novelty needlework nécessaire in the form of a grand piano, the hinged lid inlaid with a keyboard and enclosing a removable tray, fitted with mother-of-pearl accoutrements, some bearing the oval enamelled flower mark, the interior with a small musical movement, raised on ebonized and gilt metal mounted legs, height 19cm, length 31cm (some faults).
