A Liberty & Co stained oak 'Ashanti' stool, typically modelled with a curved seat raised on five supports and a stepped rectangular plinth, bearing rubbed ivorine maker's plaque to underside, height 36cm, width 46cm, depth 27cm. Note: a similar stool is illustrated in 'Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915' by Daryl Bennett, page 290. The stool was featured in Liberty's 'Small Pieces of Furniture' catalogue of 1915 and was described as a 'reproduction of an ancient Egyptian model'.
