A 19th century French ebonized and kingwood banded box of egg form, the silk-lined interior marked '17 Bould de la Madeleine Gouache', length 19cm (faults), together with a section of an ebonized stand, inset with three enamelled panels, a carved wooden pipe in the form of a bearded man's head, a carved wooden monkey's face and a 19th century bois durci bound book.
