A Worcester porcelain large coffee or chocolate cup, circa 1765-70, probably decorated in the James Giles workshop, of typical 'U' shape with grooved loop handle gilt with husks, the main body enamelled with a large Fancy Bird on rockwork accompanied by a smaller bird on a branch, a similar bird in flight to the reverse, beneath a gilded rim, underglaze blue pseudo Meissen mark to base, height 7.5cm (minor gilding loss to rim). Note: a similar cup was sold by Bonhams in their Fine English Porcelain & Glass auction, 9th March 2005, Lot 56.
