LOT 1262
A Japanese iron samurai helmet surmount (maedate) in the form of a dragonfly, Meiji period, the wings with detailed decoration, length 25.5cm. Note: the dragonfly was a favourite emblem of the samurai and was known as kachi-mushi (victorious insect). It was respected for its hunting technique, whereby it would fly directly towards its prey, never wavering from its path.
