[TOMS, William John]. Notes and Queries: a Medium of Inter-Communication for Literary Men, Artists, Antiquaries, Genealogists, etc. London: George Bell, 1849-1896. 27 vols., 8vo (202 x 156mm.) (Mild toning.) Contemporary half-calf over marbled paper boards, red and black morocco lettering pieces (rubbing to all extremities, a few boards loosening, loss to top of spine of vol. 7 only, black lettering pieces to spines after 1857 vol.). Note: a complete run of the first series, 12 volumes (1849-1855), 3 volumes of the 2nd series (1855-1857), 5 volumes of the 7th series (1886-1891), and 7 volumes of the 8th series (1893-1896). - And two 'Index' volumes from 1898 and 1902. Provenance: Worthing Public Library (bookplates to the front pastedown) (29).
