A pair of Japanese Satsuma earthenware vases, Meiji period, each ovoid body painted and gilt with opposing figural panels of samurai and bijin, reserved against a blue ground, ornamented in gilt with simulated brocade, gilt three character signature to base of one, height 17cm (lacking covers).
