CARTWRIGHT, Edmund. The Parochial Topography of the Rape of Bramber in the Western Division of the County of Sussex. London: J.B. Nichols and Son, 1830. Volume II, part the Second, folio, (378 x 262mm.) 30 engraved plates (1 double paged, 1 in colour), 2 hand-coloured maps by Gideon Mantell, 1 folding map with outline in colour. (Some loose leaves, a three inch tear to the folding map, library stamps to the title page and verso, and to the front pastedown.) Later cloth over contemporary boards (rebacked, upper inner joint cracked, heavily rubbed). - And a related volume (Edmund Cartwright's new edition of James Dallaway's 'The Parochial Topography of the Rape of Arundel', 1832, folio). Note: the volumes comprise two parts of James Dallaway's 'History of the Western Division of the County of Sussex', the 'Rape of Chichester' being the third part. Provenance: Westminster library, labels to the front pastedown (2).
