DICKENS, Charles. Dombey and Son. London: Bradbury and Evans, 1848. First edition in book form, 8vo (151 x 131mm.) Frontispiece, additional engraved title, 38 plates by H.K. Browne, errata leaf. (Browning and some spotting to plates, three names inscribed to preliminaries.) Near contemporary half calf, repeating gilt design to spine, marbled endpapers (bumped to extremities, fading to gilt titles on spine). Note: the hook on Cuttle's left arm on title vignette, no page entry on list of plates for frontispiece and vignette, 'aint' without apostrophe on p. 14, 'fidgetty' on p. 26. Provenance: Irene Humphries (name in ink on preliminary blank). - And one more literary volume (Alexandre Dumas' 'Rosa, or The Black Tulip', 1854, 8vo, bound with two others) (2).
