THE BLACK BOOK CASE. - Maud ALLAN. My Life and Dancing. London: Everett & Co., [n.d. but 1908]. First edition, 8vo (179 x 122mm.) Frontispiece, numerous plates. (Small repair to frontispiece.) Original green cloth with onlaid pictorial paper panel of Maud Allan as Salome to the upper cover (bumped to extremities). - And three more volumes relating to the Pemberton Billing case (including the 'Verbatim Report of the Trial of Noel Pemberton Billing…', 1918, 8vo). Note: it was during this trial that Lord Alfred Douglas, when called to give evidence, betrayed Oscar Wilde by referring to him as 'the greatest evil that has befallen Europe in the last 350 years' (4).
