An early 20th century gilt metal and enamel singing bird automaton musical box with timepiece, the enamelled case of rectangular form with canted corners, painted with panels of forget-me-nots with gilt framing on a cream ground, gilt foliate medallion and amber bead borders, the hinged lid painted with a songbird opening to reveal a foliate pierced gilt grille and a brightly feathered bird with moving beak and wings, the front inset with an oval silvered timepiece dial, the base with star maker's mark and detailed 'L'Exquisite', length 10.4cm (minor restoration to hinge of lid).
