LOT 1120
A William and Mary and later walnut and marquetry inlaid longcase clock with eight day five pillar movement striking on a bell, the 10-inch square brass dial with matt centre, subsidiary seconds and date aperture, framed by a silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes, cornered with cast and pierced amorini spandrels, the lower edge inscribed 'James Tudman Londini fecit', the hood with moulded pediment above two pairs of ebonized barleytwist columns, the rectangular trunk door with glazed circular lenticle and inlaid with three panels of well-drawn floral, bird and foliate scroll marquetry, the plinth similarly decorated, the sides divided into panels with stringing, on ebonized bun feet, height 199cm, with pendulum and two brass weights (alterations and restoration). Provenance: from the estate of the late John Young (1927-2017).
