A Japanese carved ivory and wood okimono figure group of a mask maker with mother-of-pearl and horn detail, by Kyokusui, Meiji period, the seated artisan working on an Okame mask, flanked by a large Hannya mask, kodansu and chamberstick, inset red lacquer signature plaque to base, height 8.5cm, together with a stained wood scroll stand. Note: for an illustrated example by the same carver and illustration of signature, see pages 152 and 153 of 'The Golden Age of Japanese Okimono' by Laura Bordignon.
