A Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase by Gyokushu, Meiji period, of shouldered tapering form with short cylindrical neck, the slender body finely painted and gilt with opposing panels, one filled with a scene of Yoshitsune and maiden, the other with geese, reserved against a ground scattered with simulated brocade, gilt signature to base, height 23.5cm, with pine box.
