A Japanese Satsuma earthenware tea caddy, inner cover and cover, Meiji period, the rectangular body painted and gilt with panels of figures approaching a temple, figures and cats, pavilions in landscape and a cockerel and chicken amidst chrysanthemums, within gilt simulated brocade borders, the shoulder and cover with dense polychrome chrysanthemums, iron red and gilt signature seal to base, height 12.5cm (minor restoration to cover).
