A Japanese gold ground lacquer four case inro, Meiji period, of oblong form, each side finely worked and inlaid in mother-of-pearl and ivory, one with a lady and child, the other with a lady standing beside a tree, length 8.8cm (some inlay missing), together with a Shibayama inlaid ivory ojime, decorated with fruiting branch and leaves, length 2.1cm, and a gold ground lacquer two-section box netsuke, decorated with a kneeling boy stoking a fire beneath a kettle, the interior with two character signature, length 3.5cm.
