DICKENS, Charles. The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. London: Chapman and Hall, 1839. First edition in book form, 8vo (212 x 130mm.) Portrait frontispiece, 39 engraved plates by 'Phiz'. (Plates spotted and browned as usual.) Contemporary green morocco, spine gilt, g.e. (extremities and spine lightly rubbed). Note: an early issue bound from early parts with 'visiter' for 'sister' on p.123, 'latter' for 'letter' on p.160, 'flys' for 'flies' on p.245, 'visiters' for 'visitors' on p.272 and other first issue points. Provenance: Henry Gillett (armorial bookplate to front pastedown). - And three more volumes by Charles Dickens, all first editions in book form (4).
