LOT 1150
A mid-19th century gilt brass two section folding strut timepiece and perpetual calendar, in the manner of Thomas Cole, each section of diamond shape with finely engraved foliate scroll borders and silvered dials, the timepiece section with watch movement and black Roman hour numerals, the calendar section with black fixed date of the month table beside a roller aperture displaying days of the week in red, the case back numbered '750' and '1', length 12cm, within original fitted leather case with hinged lid. Note: for similarly designed strut clocks by Thomas Cole with comparable features, see items 45 and 46 on pages 125-129 of 'Thomas Cole and Victorian Clockmaking' by J.B. Hawkins.
