LOT 1137
A 19th century mahogany stick barometer, the ivory dial with vernier scale, mercury thermometer and inscribed 'J. Newman 122 Regent St. London', the case with moulded pediment above ebony stringing to trunk and turned cistern cover, height 97cm (some faults). Note: John Frederick Newman was one of the leading barometer makers of the nineteenth century. He was recorded working at 122 Regent St., London, from 1827 to 1860.
