NAVAL LOG. A manuscript ship's log book titled on the cloth cover 'Ship Charles Grant to Bombay & China in 1834-5', probably by Thomas Clark, a midshipman on the vessel, detailing the ship's company, 7 casualties or dismissals, passengers, and the route: Bombay towards Singapore, in Singapore Roads, Singapore towards China, China towards the Island of St Helena, St Helena towards England, the English Channel, England towards Bombay, off Lintin and Whampoa Beach. Note: Charles Grant was built at Bombay in 1810 and made 12 voyages for the British East India Company between 1810-1833. This log presumably details the first journey for the ship's new owners.
