SMITH, Sydney. The Works… second edition. London: 1840. 4 vols., 8vo (215 x 133mm.) Portrait frontispiece to vol. I. (Some spotting to first and last few leaves of each volume.) Near contemporary half-calf by Tuckett, the spines gilt in six compartments with raised bands, lettering pieces to the second and third, the other compartments with repeat decoration in gilt (extremities slightly rubbed). Provenance: Panshanger (armorial bookplate to front pastedowns). - And four other volumes, leather-bound (8).
