LOT 1095
A late 19th century marine chronometer, the two-day chain fusee movement with Earnshaw type spring detent and bimetallic balance, the silvered circular dial with Roman hour numerals, subsidiary seconds, inscribed 'H. Huges & Son Ltd 59 Fenchurch St, London' and numbered '1579', contained in a lacquered brass bowl hung in gimbals, within a mahogany brass mounted case, the hinged lid applied with an ivory plaque detailed 'H. Hughes & Son Ltd 1579', the lid interior detailed retailer's mark 'B. Cooke & Son Ltd, Hull', height 16.5cm (case lacking glazed top panel and pitting to lacquered brass case).
