A 9ct gold presentation vesta, 1918 by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co, the front engraved with 'Royal Aero Club Trans-Atlantic Flight 14-15 June 1919 to R.H. Mayo', the reverse engraved with the signatures of J. Alcock, A.W. Brown, H.J. Hawker and K. Mackenzie-Grieve, together with a letter from the R.A.F. Meteorological Station, St John's, N.F. to the Secretary, Royal Aero Club, dated 14th June 1919, within a mount titled 'This letter was handed to ... Major R.H. Mayo ... on the completion of Alcock & Brown's Historic Flight, 15th June 1919', framed with the envelope, a photograph of a Vickers Vimy in flight and a card bearing various signatures, including J. Alcock and Arthur Brown, a luncheon menu for the Trans-Atlantic Air Race 1919, signed by J. Alcock, H.J. Hawker and A.W. Brown, and a quantity of other related paperwork. Provenance: from the estate of the late Major Robert Hobart Mayo, O.B.E., M.A. (Cantab), Assoc.M.Inst.C.E., F.R.Ae.S., M.Inst.T.
