An early Arts and Crafts silver tea caddy, the dome top hinged lid embossed with a vacant cartouche within a surround of flowers and scrolling foliage, the rectangular body similarly decorated with birds, scrolling foliage, flowers, urns and masks, all against a textured ground, the interior gilt, Birmingham 1890 by Keswick School of Industrial Art, stamped initials 'J.B' to base and scratched inscription to lid interior 'Worked by J.F Banks 1889', height 11.4cm, length 12.2cm. Note: this piece was possibly designed by Edith Rawnsley, wife of school founder Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley.
