A rare Doulton Lambeth faience 'The Telephone' spill vase by George Tinworth, circa 1880-1890, modelled as a transatlantic telephone exchange, the central wall with turquoise beaded detail within gilt line borders, either side with a seated child, one side with incised inscription 'New York America', the other side 'London England', on a rectangular base inscribed 'The Telephone Good News', incised artist's monograms to side, impressed factory mark and brown painted 'A.D 61 A' to base, height 11.7cm.
