A Japanese carved and stained ivory okimono figure group, Meiji period, finely modelled to represent the fable of the tongue cut sparrow, with two figures and three anthropomorphic sparrows, the gentleman seated on a rock, smoking a pipe beside a sparrow, above a further figure and two sparrows, incised signature to base, height 6.2cm.
