A Japanese Satsuma earthenware rectangular tray/wall plaque, Meiji period, the centre painted and gilt with a scene of a seated scroll painter and four boy attendants working on a calligraphic scroll, as a seated dignitary watches on, the raised gallery rim filled with a repeated design of birds and foliate medallions, unsigned, length 37.1cm (chip to one corner).
