A set of six creamware 'Prodigal Son' plates, late 18th/early 19th century, each Dutch decorated with scenes from the parable depicting his inheritance, his departure, his joy, his sadness, his remorse and his meal, all within an unusual relief moulded floral border picked out in the same iron red, green, blue and yellow enamels, unmarked, diameter 23.8cm. Note: for an example of a plate of similar outline and Dutch decorated with a scene from the Prodigal Son, see page 185 of H.P. Fourest's 'Delftware'.
