LOT 1103
An early 18th century and later oak longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell via an inside countwheel, the square brass dial with matt centre, silvered subsidiary seconds, ringed winding holes and date aperture, framed by a silvered chapter ring, black Roman hours, outer Arabic minutes and inscribed 'Tho, Deykin Worcester', cornered with pierced and cast putti and crown spandrels within a herringbone engraved border, the later oak case with swan neck pediment, turned columns and glazed door, the trunk door with shaped top on a plain base and bracket feet, height 210cm, with pendulum, two weights and winder (alterations and restoration). Note: Thomas Deykin is recorded in Britten's 'Old Clocks and Watches & Their Makers' as working in Worcester, circa 1700.
