A scarce officer's helmet of the Royal 1st Devon Yeomanry Cavalry, circa 1852, the skull of black brushed felt over buckram with front and rear patent leather covered peaks with white metal edges and band, white metal helmet plate with crown, laurel and oak leaf sprays surrounding gilded garter and VR cypher over title scrolls, silver plated plume holder with white over red horsehair plume, velvet lined chin chain with circular fittings (possibly replacements) and brown quilted silk sweatband (some age wear to lining, felt loss to skull).
