A Doulton & Co salt glazed stoneware commemorative figure of Queen Victoria, by John Broad, circa 1901, modelled in full ceremonial robe, seated on her throne, holding an orb and sceptre, raised on a blue and green glazed stepped bowfront plinth, the throne back inscribed in relief 'Victoria R.I. 1819-1901' above an oak tree, and incised 'Doulton & Co Ltd Lambeth, J. Broad', height 29cm (firing cracks and some restoration). Note: see the Doulton Lambeth Wares by Desmond Eyles, published by Hutchinson, London 1975, Plate XLII for an identical figure.
