A mid-19th Century American Sterling silver castle-top card case of shaped rectangular form with hinged cover, the front decorated in relief with a view of the Trinity Church in Lower Manhattan, New York, framed by foliate scrolls and foliage, the reverse with a rectangular panel filled with torch, arrows and quiver, within a border of scrolling foliage, circa 1846 probably by Leonard & Wilson of Philadelphia, marked 'Sterling', length approx 8.8cm. Note: this card case was probably produced to commemorate the completion of the third and current Trinity Church in 1846, which is located near the intersection of Wall Street and Broadway in New York City.
