A late 19th Century French slate and bronze mantel clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the circular enamel dial with black Roman numerals and inscribed 'J.B. Marchand, Rue Richelieu 57 Paris', the case surmounted with two recumbent knights playing chess above a cast and pierced frieze depicting trophies of war, on a slate rectangular base and bracket feet, height approx 44cm (lacking pendulum).
