LOT 806
A 12 bore percussion belt pistol, barrel length approx 15.5cm, swivel ramrod, plain backlock, full-stocked with brass furniture and blued steel belt hook. Provenance: ex William Keith Neal Collection, no. P59. Included in this lot is a typewritten note, signed W. Keith Neal, stating: 'This pistol was used in the Rebecca Toll Bar Riots when a gang of men disguised as Sisters of Rebecca stormed the Toll Bars and destroyed them. It was a protest against the high charges that were levied. This pistol was one of a group which hung in the office of the Chief Constable of Bath who presented me with one ...'.
