Original cloth (extremities lightly bumped, split to head of spine, spine slightly browned), dust-jacket (chipped and torn with loss, some repaired tears, creased and backstrip slightly browned). Provenance: Harry Vandenvelle (presentation inscription from Winifred Brown 'Wishing Harry Vandenvelle the best of luck, fair winds, and good passages' to front-free endpaper); Michael Gilkes (bookplate to front pastedown). Together with two a.l.s by Winifred Brown addressed to Commander Vandervelle, one hurriedly discussing her book and autographing it for him, 'Please excuse haste, but everybody here is rushing out to the submarine that has gone down just outside'. - And two other sailing volumes (comprising: Irving JOHNSON. 'Shamrock v's Wild Voyage Home and Other Sea-Going Adventures'. Springfield: Milton Bradley Company,1933. First edition, 8vo. Provenance: Lieutenant Commander Ninson (presentation inscription from Irving Johnson 'To Lieut.
