LOT 3107
ILLINGWORTH, [John Holden.] Offshore, Ocean Racing, Fast Cruising, Modern Yacht Handling and Equipment. Southampton: Adlard Coles Ltd., [n.d. but 1958.] Revised and enlarged edition, 8vo (276 x 210mm.) 1 colour photographic frontispiece, 15 uncoloured photographic plates, numerous illustrations and designs. (Light browning, some light spotting to fore-edge.) Original cloth (extremities lightly bumped and scuffed), dust-jacket (torn with minor loss, chipped to corners and head and foot of spine, some browning and soiling). - And two other volumes by John ILLINGWORTH (including: 'Further Offshore'. London: Adlard Coles Ltd, 1969). Together with six t.l.s. by John H. Illingworth addressed to Mr. Gilkes on Illingworth & Primrose headed paper, dating from 20th January 1962 - 15th May 1962, offering him a place on board for the Bermuda Race and discussing the trials of Pherousa at Cherbourg. Note: John Holden Illingworth was an English naval engineer, achieving fame as a yacht racer and designer, later becoming the Commodore of the Royal Ocean Racing Club in 1947 he launched his boat 'Myth of Malham' which made his name.
