LOT 3370
A Victorian giltwood triptych firescreen, originally housed in Windsor Castle, the reeded frame with rosette corners, the panels inset with pleated silk and foliate damask, raised on carved acanthus leaf downswept legs terminating in reeded bun feet, the underside of the frame marked 'Windsor Castle, Room 219' with crowned V.R. cypher and dated 1866, height approx 107cm, width approx 124cm. Note: this lot comes with a copy of a letter from Sir Geoffrey de Bellaigue, Director of The Royal Collection, stating that 'Room 219 was the School Room in 1866' and that 'the original covering was a green silk ...'.
