An Edwardian satinwood display cabinet-on-stand, manufactured by Queen Alexandra's Carving School and probably housed originally at Sandringham, with overall crossbanding and stringing, the moulded pediment above a pair of astragal glazed doors enclosing glass shelves, the stand fitted with a single drawer, on tapering legs united by a shaped undertier, bearing manufacturer's stamp to drawer and inscribed 'From Sandringham' to the inside of one door, height approx 176cm, width approx 68cm, depth approx 37.5cm. Note: this lot comes with a copy of a letter dated 4th January 1979 from the Estate Office of Sandringham, confirming the impressed mark on the drawer indicates that it was 'constructed by pupils at Queen Alexandra's Carving School'. Provenance: Ellis & Sons, Antique, Victorian and Edwardian Furniture sale, September 1978, Lot 32.
