A 16th/17th Century carved oak and ivory mounted tinder box, the sliding lid inset with five roundels carved in relief with a double portrait, possibly depicting a Habsburg king and queen, a crowned Habsburg eagle crest, St George slaying the dragon, a crown and another Habsburg eagle, all within barley twist borders, carved hearts and chip carved roundels, the interior divided into three compartments, the reverse bearing 'W.J. Shepherd Collection' label, height approx 41cm, width approx 14.5cm. Provenance: The W.J. Shepherd Collection of Treen, Sotheby Parke Bernet & Co, 30th Nov and 1st Dec 1983, Lot 819.
