An early George III mahogany tip-top tea table in the manner of Thomas Chippendale, the circular single-piece top with a carved piecrust edge above a birdcage mount, the fluted stem with a finely carved acanthus leaf baluster above an egg and dart band, the three downswept cabriole legs carved with scrolling acanthus leaves and terminating in elongated claw and ball feet, height approx 70cm, length approx 65.5cm, width approx 61.4cm. Note: a table of similar design was sold in Christie's Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Prints and Decoys sale, 17-18 January 2008, New York, Rockefeller Plaza, Sale No. 1959, Lot 449.
