A pair of rare Martin Brothers stoneware architrave sections, circa 1875, each of upright lobed form, one side decorated in relief with lilies on a textured blue ground, otherwise incised with repeated foliate bands, divided by beading, one incised 'R.W.M 1875', each height approx 31cm (some chips). Note: the oldest of the brothers, Robert Wallace Martin, worked for a while for the architectural sculptor J.B. Phillips of Vauxhall Bridge Road. These pieces may well be from this time.
