A Japanese Satsuma earthenware koro and cover by Kizan, Meiji period, the rectangular body with curved canted corners, the sides painted and gilt with opposing figural and landscape panels, flanked by floral panels with moulded gilt Buddhistic lion mask and ring handles, within brown borders filled with gilt flowerheads and scrolling tendrils, the domed cover filled with a ground of dense chrysanthemum beneath a gourd bottle finial, gilt signature to base, height approx 9.5cm.
