LOT 1090
A George III mahogany longcase clock with eight day movement striking hours on a bell, the brass break arch dial with matt centre, subsidiary seconds and date aperture framed by a silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, inscribed 'Raymond Manningtree', cornered with pierced and cast gilt spandrels, beneath a silvered boss inscribed 'Tempus Fugit', the hood with moulded arch pediment above a glazed door and stop fluted columns, the trunk with arched door and stop fluted corner columns, on a fielded panel base and apron feet, height approx 213cm, with pendulum and two brass cased weights. Note: George Raymond is listed as working as a clock and watchmaker in Manningtree Essex, circa 1760.
