A rare Caughley porcelain dessert plate, circa 1790, the centre painted in bright underglaze blue with a view of a chapel in a rural landscape, within a gilt striped border and underglaze blue rim with gilt guilloche detail, impressed 'Salopian' to base, diameter approx 20.2cm. Note: a dessert dish from the same service is illustrated on page 141 of The Caughley Society's 'Caughley Blue & White Patterns' (2012). It is noted that the scenes are derived from engravings by the artist Paul Sandby (1731-1809).
