A pair of Staffordshire pottery lion and lamb figure groups, mid to late 19th Century, each lion modelled seated with a recumbent lamb at their feet, finely enamelled detail, on a gilt lined oval base, height approx 22cm. Note: this group may possibly have been inspired by the American lion-tamer Isaac van Ambrugh, who visited Britain in 1848 and mixed cages of lions, leopards and a lamb in his act at The Drury Lane Theatre.
