LOT 318
A silver cream jug and sugar caster, designed by Brian R. Cain, each with swollen cylindrical body on an engraved skirted foot, London 1954 and 1955 by Wakely & Wheeler, heights approx 13cm and 15cm. Note: Brian Cain was born in 1931 and served his apprenticeship with Wakely & Wheeler. He studied at the Central School of Arts & Crafts with contemporaries John Bartholomew and Lew Marlow. Some of the pieces he designed in the late 1950s were retailed by Payne & Son of Oxford and George Tarratt in Leicester. Cain later became the design manager at C.J. Vander.
