A Japanese brass mounted elm street vendors compendium, Meiji period, the top fitted with two wells, hinged compartment and carry handle, one side fitted with an arrangement of seven drawers and a cupboard door, the reverse with attached compartmentalised box, height approx 43cm. Provenance: Norris Castle, Isle of Wight. Built in 1799 by James Wyatt for Lord Henry Seymour King George IV, the Duchess of Kent and Princess, later to become Queen Victoria were all visitors in the early part of the 19th Century.
