TURTON, William. A Conchological Dictionary of the British Islands by… Turton… assisted by his daughter. London: printed for John Booth, 1819. 8vo (157 x 92mm.) Title with 'transformation' vignette of a vase/pair of faces, 28 engraved plates. Contemporary marbled calf by Commins of Weymouth ticket on front pastedown), covers with gilt roll-tool border, the upper cover with centrally-place gilt initials 'H.P.' within a gilt oval, the flat spine divided into five compartments by double gilt rules, green morocco label in the second compartment, the others with repeat decoration in gilt, (spine rubbed, extremities scuffed).
